Moon Island
Cues
Bring reef-safe sunscreen and extra water — there's zero shade on the sandbank and the reflected sun off the white sand is intense. The best snorkeling spots are on the north side where the water stays deeper, but check current conditions with your boat captain before entering.
Insider Cue
A small crescent sandbank about 70km offshore — genuinely uninhabited and rarely visited. Book a boat tour from Dubai Marina through GetYourGuide or a local operator. Check sea conditions before booking — the crossing can be choppy. The turquoise water and deserted beach are the main draws. Dolphins are regularly spotted on the crossing. Best October to May before summer swells.
Insider Cue
Description
Moon Island is a private crescent-shaped sandbank that appears and disappears with the tides, making it genuinely special rather than another static attraction—visit during low tide for the full experience. You'll need to book a boat tour (most depart from Marina) and expect to pay extra for the privilege, but the shallow turquoise waters and complete absence of crowds make it worth the splurge if you want Instagram-worthy photos without the Instagram crowds.
