Madinat Jumeirah

Insider Tips

An elaborate souk and canal development at the base of the Burj Al Arab — one of Dubai's most atmospheric settings. The abra boats navigating the internal canals are a highlight. The souk has a good mix of independent shops and restaurants. Souk Madinat is the best place in Dubai to photograph the Burj Al Arab — the view from the terrace restaurants at sunset is exceptional

Insider tip

Description

This man-made Arabian village is essentially a theme park for adults who want Instagram-worthy photos without leaving a resort, complete with wind towers, wooden dhows, and surprisingly decent restaurants hidden in the winding souks. Worth the entry fee if you're already in Jumeirah and have a few hours, but skip it if you're keen on authentic souks—the real deal is cramped, chaotic, and way cheaper in Deira.
